Auricular acupuncture, also known as auriculotherapy, is a modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the stimulation of acupuncture points on the external surface of the ear. Although small, the ear has the highest density of acupuncture points of the body. Points on the ear are labeled by organ, body part, even parts of the brain.

Most auricular acupuncture points are regulating points, and can be used to tonify or sedate.  Practitioners can stimulate acupuncture points on the ear as well as the body during a single treatment session, or can utilize them separately.

A qualified Acupuncture Physician may use auricular acupuncture to treat headaches, hypertension, asthma, back pain, and even nausea. The technique of auricular acupuncture is especially effective for the treatment of addiction to cigarettes, recreational or pharmaceutical drugs, and even food.
