Japanese Acupuncture

Japanese Acupuncture is a specialized acupuncture technique that was developed when acupuncture was first introduced from China. There are several different types of needling that fall under Japanese Acupuncture. They are all similar in that the technique is precise and efficient.

Japanese AcupunctureThis technique differs from Traditional Chinese Medicine in that it focuses on shallow needle insertion and minimal stimulation of the needles.  Another key difference is that the needles are extremely thin making the treatment exceptionally comfortable for the patient.

Japanese Acupuncture utilizes palpation as a primary diagnostic tool. Channels are palpated to determine if blockages, excesses or deficiencies exist. The abdomen is palpated with careful attention paid to temperature, texture, firmness and tenderness.

Acupuncture in general focuses on treating both the root (cause of the problem) and the branch (symptoms of the problem). This is even truer with Japanese acupuncture, specifically when utilizing Meridian Therapy. By treating the root and entire body, the symptoms should be alleviated.

Japanese acupuncture is used to treat the same conditions as Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. Qualified Acupuncture Physicians will select which acupuncture technique to use based on each individual’s condition, constitution, and personal desires.
